Bryan,
I've always touted the glorious Metroparks. After living in Chicago, whose "Forest Preserves" were a lousy attempt at recreational beauty, and Houston where everything was flat flat flat, I loved moving back to Cleveland. Western New York is one of the most beautiful places I've lived (when you get beyond the city borders and find the cool state parks with waterfalls and such), but as far as city or county parks go, it's terrible. There are potentially great parks here without enough taxation to properly maintain them, so they fall into disrepair and aren't patrolled well and end up graffiti-filled and sad. Hooray for places like the Metroparks!!
