Adam and I are getting rid of our home phone. The only reason we even really had it is for buzzing people into the apartment. Instead we decided to get a SkypeIn number for that purpose which costs us about $3.00 / month instead of $25.00 or so. Of course we can also use Skype to make outgoing calls for those times when the cell phones don’t feel like getting reception in here.
Just to make it feel more like a real phone rather than talking into the computer we ordered the Free-1 USB phone from IPEVO. It’s amazingly designed, works with Macs, and has great reviews.
And this will now again fulfill my desire of being completely free of giving SBC, now at&t, any money. Hopefully they won’t buy T-Mobile since every other time I’ve gone with another company they ended up buying them out and I was once again back in their evil clutches.
You’re paying $3/month to buzz people into your apartment. LOL…
I think you just dropped into a younger generation by ridding of your land line.
The FCC seems content to let all the telcos reform Ma Bell. Why? Because the FCC likes big business and big government, but not boobies.
Well yes to buzz people in and truthfully the T-Mobile signal (or really any celll service for that matter) isn’t too great in our apartment. But we’re right on the coast of Lake Erie on the ground floor surrounded by tall buildings so unless a provider wants to stick a tower in the middle of Lake Erie we’re stuck.
So for those instances when we can’t seem to hold a signal it will be nice to have Skype.
I’m kinda meh on the boobies myself, J.
Agreed. They’re overrated. But I’m not going to write a ticket and slap it on every woman who has them. Then again, I’d be rich if I fined a nickel for every set of boobs I encountered.
