A few months back I started reading The New Republic and have very much enjoyed the thoughtful, well written articles. It is a more liberal magazine but I find the stories to be very balanced, well presented, and thought provoking.
I decided to take a chance and start reading The Nation. What a huge mistake that was. While both could be classified as “liberal” magazines that’s as far as the comparisons go. Where TNR is balanced and thought provoking The Nation is simply partisan, attack politics which is so over blown with hyperbole and extreme positions that it destroys its own credibility.
I have cancelled my subscription after my first, and thankfully free, issue.

I’ve really become addicted to the smell of Gain laundry detergent.
Can you please, oh please, in the next version of Mac Office actually use a real Aqua UI instead of the Aqua fake-bake you’ve been using for the last 5 years? Oh and how about actually using application bundles too?
Now mind you I think Mac Office is great and I commend the staff at the MacBU for their hard work, but come on already. I mean take advantage of some of the basic features that makes the Mac so easy to use and visually appealing.
And one last request…please don’t try to copy the horrendous UI from Office 2007.
Edit: I take it back. I think Messenger for Mac should get a makeover first. Talk about quite possibly the most hideous monstrosity to exist on a computer.
Does anyone actually truly use IM on their cell phone? It seems like it would be so difficult.
Right now I’m at Starbucks working on some school assignments while I enjoy the free wireless weekends for T-Mobile customers. It’s nice to get out from the house to do some of this, it just adds a new perspective.

On another note, taking an online course for macroeconomics is kicking my ass. Of course the professor is not too helpful which doesn’t make it any easier.
Adam and I are getting rid of our home phone. The only reason we even really had it is for buzzing people into the apartment. Instead we decided to get a SkypeIn number for that purpose which costs us about $3.00 / month instead of $25.00 or so. Of course we can also use Skype to make outgoing calls for those times when the cell phones don’t feel like getting reception in here.
Just to make it feel more like a real phone rather than talking into the computer we ordered the Free-1 USB phone from IPEVO. It’s amazingly designed, works with Macs, and has great reviews.
And this will now again fulfill my desire of being completely free of giving SBC, now at&t, any money. Hopefully they won’t buy T-Mobile since every other time I’ve gone with another company they ended up buying them out and I was once again back in their evil clutches.

I’ve been buying Smucker’s natural peanut butter the last few times I’ve gone to the grocery store. You know, the kind where the oil separates and you have to mix it up yourself. I love it, but there is one thing I don’t like and that’s needing to store it in the refrigerator. I just hate cold peanut butter.
Well I began wondering if it was really necessary to keep it in there after opening so I went to the Smucker’s website and e-mailed the question to their customer service team. Within one hour of sending it, someone called me at home with the response. I was amazed at how responsive they were.
And the answer is no, you don’t have to keep it stored in the refrigerator.
Adam and I ended up switching to T-Mobile on Saturday saying so long to Cingular. I got a new Motorola PEBL and Adam really wanted a RAZR so we just got the cheap free phone from T-Mobile for him, flashed my Cingular RAZR with Tmo’s firmware and now he has a fully function Tmobile RAZR for free.
We got the 700 minute family plan which comes with unlimited nights, weekends, and mobile to mobile. We also sprung for the unlimited text, IM, picture and video messaging which we’ve been having way too much fun with the last 24 hours.
The coolest thing Tmo does in my opinion is their personlized coverage check. This will pinpoint coverage up to street level at any address. Most carriers show you vague maps which are hard to decipher but Tmo really puts it on the line.
Right now Adam and I have Cingular for our wireless service. Originally it was AT&T Wireless before the merger and I loved them, great plans and good service. Cingular is not so good.
My contract is up with Cingular and Adam’s is up soon so we’re looking to switch. The most likely contender at the moment would be T-Mobile. Anyone have them? What’s your experience been like?
