The Steve Show

Tomorrow marks the most holy day in the annual Apple calendar, Steve Jobs’ keynote address at Macworld. This is the time when Apple zealots are drooling to see what wonders Steve will unveil, the products that light up the imagination, the innovations that make the rest of the computer world wonder why they even exist.

What will come this year? Well the rumors predict things like:

  • The unveiling of new Intel-based Macs. Most likely updated iBooks, Powerbooks, and Mac minis.
  • A “media” Mac mini. The rumored MediaPC and TiVo killer. It may take advantage of Intel’s new Viiv architecture.
  • Many new digital content partnerships. I’ve even seen rumors of Apple possible announcing full movie downloads for the iPod Video at $3.99 each.
  • Very likely .Mac upgrades.
  • The expected annual upgrades to iLife (with a new app called iWeb) and iWork.
  • And the most outlandish that I’ve seen so far is Apple releasing plasma TVs.

Personally I’m most looking forward to the potential iLife, iWork, and .Mac updates. The hardware ones, while inspiring, are not something that will spur me to buy a new machine since I just got a new iMac G5. Of course Adam is chomping at the bit for a new Intel Powerbook, that will wait for a few revisions for them to work out the bugs.

In a little over 12 hours from now the tech world will be abuzz with the mystical news of what Steve has to say. At least I know I’m not the only one excited about it.
